According to the Developer, D.R. Horton, Ka Malanai's first homes will be released for sale by lottery with prices starting at:
1 Bedrooms starting from $477,755 (fs)
2 Bedrooms starting from $750,755 (fs)
3 Bedrooms starting from $847,700 (fs)
Lottery applications will be accepted at the Ka Malanai Sales Center from now until 12pm on January 24th, 2014.
The public lottery will be held on January 25th at 10am.

Ka Malanai in Kailua is the largest new residential development in Kailua in the last 20 yearsIt will feature six 4-story buildings configured in three U-shapes, built around three large courtyards visible from the street, according to the developers, D.R.Horton-Schuler. They will include native Hawaiian plantings and flowers,coconut trees, and open grass for families to enjoy. Centrally located in the heart of Kailua Town, Ka Malanai consists of six attractive four-story condominium buildings. Residents of Ka Malanai may select from more than eight floor plans, featuring one, two, and three bedrooms, ranging from 719 to 1,811 square feet. Parking is on the ground floor, with three floors of living above. Access-controlled elevators to all residential levels in every building and air-conditioning in each home will provide comfort for residents and their pets. Approximately 10 areas designated for BBQs across three shared courtyards will be available to residents, perfect for gathering with family and friends. As many residents find their way to the nearby beaches, they will also find convenience in the shared storage for water sports equipment such as surfboards and kayaks. Residents looking to maintain their fitness regimens will not have to go very far, as a circuit training course and permanent exercise equipment are offered in the courtyards. A variety of Native Hawaiian plants will be grown as part of the lush landscaping in and around the shared courtyards. The three large courtyards, each with an island theme, are meant in part to address community concerns about preserving an open-air, local-style look in the area adjacent to a rapidly changing downtown Kailua, according to the developers.

Applications for the Lottery for the first phase (Buildings 1 & 2) will be taken up until noon on January 24th. They will be giving preference to Owner-Occupants. All six buildings are now under construction. They were originally planning to sell off one building at a time, but now they think they might sell the buildings in two's (Building 1 and 2; then Building 3 and 4; and finally Buildings 5 and 6).Completion date is targeted at late Spring for Buildings 1 and 2 (probably April), and a late
summer on Phase 2 (Buildings 3,4) and end of 2014 on Phase 3 (Buildings 5,6).
Sales will start right after Jan. 1. You will have to fill out the form,
have it notarized and sent back, so long distance Buyers are okay. .They will be shooting for 70% owner occupancy to start, so preference will begiven to owner-occupants. D.R. Horton is in the process of acquiring property across the street to build two more of the larger building models. This additional phase will bring the unit count from 153 to 213. They will be two of the larger building models.
